Monumental Works: Scale & Logistics

Engineering structural integrity from raw, heavy timber.

Executing public art on a monumental scale requires more than artistic vision—it demands industrial logistics, heavy-material expertise, and rigorous safety protocols. For large-scale architectural installations, our studio utilizes a specialized consortium approach, ensuring that every phase of the project, from timber acquisition to final finishing, is handled by a dedicated master in that discipline.

Heavy Timber & Structural Foundation

The foundation of any large-scale installation begins with the mastery of raw mass. Operating with logs that exceed 10,000 pounds requires specialized rigging, heavy machinery, and aggressive initial stock removal.

Led by our heavy-timber specialist, Louie, our team has extensive experience managing massive pieces, including working with salvaged 121-inch native timber. This phase of the process focuses entirely on structural integrity and spatial blocking. By utilizing industrial chainsaws and heavy lifting equipment, we safely establish the core composition and structural balance of the wood long before the fine-detail carving begins.

The Consortium Advantage

Monumental sculpture cannot be executed by a single set of hands. By separating the logistical heavy lifting from the final master detailing, our studio ensures that large-scale public commissions are delivered safely, on time, and with the exact structural specifications required for commercial architectural environments.
